Rose Hall Triathlon 2009

For the first time ever, schools from western Jamaica participated in an international triathlon. The organizers of the Rose Hall Triathlon created a special section just for schools and colleges where they could compete next to the pros in the sport. Several schools entered including STETHS, Frome Technical, Ruseas High, Green Pond High, Anchovy High, Montego Bay Community College and Herbert Morrison Technical High school.

A triathlon consists of three main disciplines Swim (750m), Ride (23km) and Run (5km). The schools used a relay team format with one swimmer, one bicycle rider and a runner. Some schools opted for the Duathlon which is a relay consisting of two persons; a rider who runs 1000m on the beach to his/her bicycle and a 5km runner.

Next year we hope to see more schools enter this tournament which is held in the scenic Rose Hall area of Montego Bay.
